Welcome to the 2008-09 Sophomore Class webpage! We are very excited for all the events and opportunities planned for the upcoming year! This year, our class advisor is Ms. Kate Tancrell, who is an exceptional social studies teacher here at Alonso. She is also very excited for all the Class of 2011 activities that will take place this upcoming year. She is full of energy and will continue to do a great job with the Sophmore Class of 2011!
The Sophomore Class officers were elected last May, and they are already hard at work helping to make the Class of 2011 a phenomenal class. These officers meet often throughout the year, including on club days, as well as with the Sophomore Class Spirit Committee.
The 2008-09 Sophomore Class Officers are:

Homecoming
Homecoming is a very busy time for both teachers and students alike at Alonso, and there are many activities that take place. These include the Raven Rampage (the nighttime pep-rally during Homecoming Week), the Homecoming Football Game, and of course, the Homecoming Dance, at A La Carte Pavillion. All of these activities take a lot of hard work and dedication, and so volunteers are always needed. If you are a student and would like to help volunteer on the Sophomore Class Spirit Committee, please contact Mrs. Tancrell or Jacob Morello, so we can get you involved in our class. Parents are also invited to do the same, by e-mailed Mrs. Tancrell at Kate.Tancrell@sdhc.k12.fl.us. This way we can put on our volunteer list and contact you if any other opportunities become available in the future. The dates for all of the Homecoming events are listed below:
September 25 Meeting for all Sophomore Class Spirit members to discuss Homecoming Float ideas
October 1 Begin creating the Class of 2011 Float; 3:00 - 4:00 (Cafeteria)
October 7 Continue Float; 3:00 - 4:30 (Cafeteria)
October 8 Continue Float; 3:00 - 4:30 (Cafeteria)
October 14 Continue Float; 3:00 - 4:30 (Cafeteria)
October 15? Continue Float if necessary; 3:00 - 4:30 (Cafeteria)
October 15 Raven Rampage; 7:00 (Gym)
October 16 Homecoming Game; 3:30 - 5:00; Dinner Provided
October 18 Homecoming Dance; A la Carte Pavillion
The Class of 2011 will often have fundraisers throughout the school year, to cover fees such as homecoming costs, class t-shirts, and other events that come up throughout the year. As of August 2008, the Class of 2011 has $400.00 available to cover these costs. The fundraisers also help with the many senior costs that will follow in our senior year. Our goal is to raise and have at least $6000.00 by the start of our senior year. This goal can only be met through the efforts of fundraisers. Please take some time to help the Class of 2011 with our upcoming fundraisers:
September 20 Car Wash @ Burger King on Linebaugh & Sheldon; 10:00 - 2:00 pm
October 25 Car Wash @ Wal-Mart in Citrus Park on Gunn Highway; 10:00 - 2:00 pm
**Other opportunites will be planned throughout the year. Other car washes, candy sells, and t-shirt sellings will also become available as the year progresse.**
T-shirts and 'Hoodies' will be sold throughout the month of September. All students are invited and encouraged to submit a t-shirt design to either Mrs. Tancrell or Jacob Morello, who will decide the final design for the Sophomore Class shirts this year. Designs are due by September 8, and will be sold during both lunches in the cafeteria for $12.00. More information on hoodies will be made available at a later date. Stay tuned for details.
There will be a meeting for any Sophomore Class Spirit Committee members on Thursday, September 25. All students are invited to attend to learn more on how to help their class to be the best it can be!
